The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation is a program of the National Science Foundation. The purpose of this program is to increase the recruitment, retention, persistence and attainment of degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by underrepresented students. The Ohio LSAMP Alliance consists of eleven Ohio institutions of higher education, including four community colleges. Programming that takes place at each institution includes: counseling and advisement, bridge or early arrival programs, tutoring or supplemental instruction, peer mentoring, and faculty-mentored undergraduate research. In addition, alliance-wide programming brings about the institutional changes necessary to support underrepresented students in their goals.
